Camp Overview

Our training camps are open to individuals of all teams & affiliations. Our last training camp was attended by grapplers from Gracie Barra, Gracie Jiu Jitsu, 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, Brazilian Top Team, and Team Hayastan.

We are honored to have Gokor lead our next training camp. This intensive no-gi Submission Grappling Camp includes 4 ½ hours total instruction, with time for free sparring (optional). Gokor will focus much of his instruction on concepts and strategies for leg-lock attacks and defense.

We begin our Saturday training session at 11:00am and continue until 3:30pm. The training session will be followed by an Armenian-style barbecue and bonfire gathering at Russian Gulch Creek Canyon, a heavily forested coastal headland located just minutes from the training facility. Russian Gulch features a collapsed sea cave, miles of hiking trails that lead inland to a 36-foot high waterfall, and a beach that offers swimming, tide pool exploring, skin diving, and rock fishing.

Camp Location

Our training facility is located in Fort Bragg, CA, a historic logging and fishing town on Northern California's Mendocino coast.

Gokor & Hayastan Grappling

Gokor is a legend in the sports of Sambo, Judo, Submission Wrestling, and Mixed-Martial-Arts. He is one of the few grapplers who can be considered a true master in all of the submission grappling arts. Moreover, he is widely regarded as the world's most technical expert of leg-lock submissions.

Gokor began his training as a young child in Soviet Armenia, winning many national and international junior titles in Sambo, Judo, and wrestling. At the age of 17 (in 1980), he relocated to the United States and continued his training with Gene LeBell, a tremendous Catch-Wrestler and America's 1st Judo Champion. Ten years later, Gokor & Gene established the Hayastan Grappling Academy.

Over the years, Gokor traveled and competed in the Soviet Union and throughout Europe, Japan, Thailand, and Mexico. He amassed a record of over 400 wins and no losses over a career of competing in Sambo, Judo, Submission Grappling, and Mixed-Martial-Arts competitions. Most recently, Gokor shocked the Judo community when, after heckled by tournament organizers and black belt competitors, he came out of retirement and took Gold at the 2008 U.S. Judo Nationals.

At age 48, Gokor continues to train at his Hayastan Grappling Academy, which has produced a new generation of athletes who have excelled in the arena of the UFC, WEC, King of the Cage, World Grappling Games, NAGA Grappling Championships, Grapplers Quest, and Olympic Judo and all-national Judo Championships.

Gokor's Hayastan Grappling System combines elements of Sambo, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Catch Wrestling. While Hayastan Grappling includes all forms of submissions, it is particularly known for the depth of its systematic incorporation of leg locks & neck locks into its dynamic offensive curriculum, in addition to throws and holds uniquely adapted for fighting without the gi.
