Located on the Northern California coast in historic Fort Bragg, Grapplers Retreat specializes in the instruction of Submission Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Classes are regularly scheduled throughout the week, and private lessons are available by appointment.
In addition, Grappling Camps are hosted year-round, allowing grapplers and martial artists to receive world-class instruction while training and camping together on Northern California’s redwood coast. Registration for our grappling camps is always highly limited in order to ensure that all participants receive in-depth and hands on coaching.

Grappler's Retreat: Training Camp Location
Our training facility is located in Fort Bragg, CA, a historic logging and fishing town on Northern California's Mendocino coast. We are approximately a 3-hour drive north of San Francisco. The studio is located directly on Main Street, separated from the Pacific only by the open land that was once the site of the Georgia-Pacific Lumber Mill.
Visitors attending our grappling camps will train at our Fort Bragg studio, which is newly equipped with Zebra Mats. In between training, particpants will have the opportunity to join us camping at some of the Mendocino coast's most incredible sites, where we host our post-training barbecues and bonfire gatherings.
The Mendocino coast is best known for its awe-inspiring natural environment, namely its secluded rugged coastline and old-growth redwood forests. Grapplers of all backgrounds, from beginners to world champions, have an opportunity to better appreciate the spiritual aspect of their art while training in this amazing place.
An entire weekend could be split between training and simply relaxing at the forested seaside camp. For the more restless, however, there is much exploring to be had:
The Mendocino coast is comprised of a variety of habitats, including beach, bluff, headland, dune, forest and wetland. From our coastal camp locations, numerous hiking trails meander through forested canyons and along coastal bluffs. During the winter and spring months, Gray and Humpback whales make their annual migration along the coast, and can very often be seen just offshore. Tidepools, exposed at low tide, occur at the intertidal zone between the shore and the ocean, and are teeming with life, including California Mussels, Red Abalone, Rock Crabs, Giant Green Sea Anenome, and the Purple Sea Urchin. Over 200 species of birds, including hawks, owls, and ospreys, make their home on the Mendocino coast. We're sure you'll find yourself content here after a good training session!
